Wow. I made a commitment to try to write on a regular basis, and then I realize a week had flown by without posting. And my plants are wildly overgrown.
As I have mentioned before, I was not always a grower of plants. I have a long history of not trying to grow anything interspersed with a few failed attempts. So my current hydroponic adventures have filled me with joy as my plants flourish, but now I have come to the new problem of not knowing when to harvest or terminate the growing project. What do I do with all this flowering dill?
It was easy for me to decide to terminate my collard greens crop by harvesting all of the leaves because it was my third pull from that plant and it only amounted to enough to cook for two servings. But when it comes to the herbs, I find it hard to know if I should cut them down or try to take them all the way to seed. By default, I am attempting to take the dill and basil to seed.
An unexpected byproduct of all these flowering plants in my apartment is the overwhelming presence of pollen in my home, and my sinuses are not happy.
