Tractor pulling plastic

As I enter into the world of farming, I am both completely mesmerized and intrigued by all the unique elements that are common to farmers and foreign to me. Today, I was introduced to pulling plastic.

In Farm School, I am constantly introduced to technology and topics that I have never heard of. Yet, the topics are common known practices and procedures of the farming world. I often fell like I am drinking from a fire hose, but it is a joyous overwhelming time of learning.

Today, I watched as another set of students laid plastic over newly formed 600-foot raised beds. The one tractor implement they used sculpts up a 6-inch raised bed while simultaneously laying a drip-tape irrigation line at its center and pulling plastic tightly across the top. There are even two discs that finish the setup by covering the outer edges of the plastic sheet with dirt to ensure that it is well affixed over the raised bed.

Seeing something like this and learning not only the theory of how to do it but also getting the practical hands-on practice of doing it daily reminds me how fortunate and excited I am to be in this program.
